Earning the trust of patients and physicians for over 25 years, Dr. Thomas Jackson Tidwell is the only MD Anderson trained physician in the Columbus, Georgia area. At the Tidwell Cancer Treatment Center, hope has never been higher for those fighting cancer. Dr. Tidwell has been practicing in Columbus since 1992.
With extensive experience, he trained under Dr. Gilbert Fletcher, the “Father of Radiology”. Dr. Tidwell also received three years of advanced training at the renowned M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He was the first physician in the region to offer dynamic arc-modulated radiation therapy, serving as a teaching and training resource for doctors from around the world. His IMRT (Image Modulating Radiation Therapy) allows him to maximize the treatment of the cancer while minimizing the effect on surrounding tissue and organs. It is the most technologically advanced method available.
